As I sit, compiling work I did in the last few years on the lovely people and ritual of the body modification community I wanted to share with everyone some behind the scenes shots from one of my favorite shoots with the amazing Rebecca “P’unky”. The sweetest girl you will ever meet, P’unky jumped at the chance to be a participant in my series and I was and am so thrilled she accepted. You know you have a great subject when your model is EXCITED (and thankful) about getting her mouth sewn shut! Thanks forever to her and Sque3z (formerly of Anomaly Piercing in Pasadena where the shots were taken) for giving me a chance to photograph things and people I love!
If you are a modified individual or interested in ritual piercing/ performances who would like to be photographed please shoot me an email through my contact page.
Until next time,
xoxo

Ladys and lady boys,
April has been another whirlwind month filled with more photos, art projects and the bits and pieces that make up every day. This month I dyed my hair green, then back to not green again, returned a library book on RUSSIA on time, hung out with my favorite baby girl and her more than ok parents, took in the lovely Herb Ritts exhibit of untamed extravaganza at the Getty, made it to the gym at least a handful of times, caught some shows (and Martinis) at the always posh Magic Castle with my partner in crime Anastacia Goodin (aka All American Annie G), and got a brand new tattoo! Ah-maze-ing! And that doesn’t even include art, wow!
This month in the world of drawing I challenged myself to a week long illustration project. It is a little known fact that my ability to draw/paint men is on the really terrible side. For many years I have hid this by hating men and never drawing them. Sorry Jesus. Well no longer! I took it upon myself during a week of light work to assign myself more work and draw “TEN MEN I LIKE IN TEN DAYS” !!! I am sort of lying about this because I got excited and it in fact actually only took 8 days because some days I did two men (I know what is sounds like, eye roll). Sorry again Jesus. The tricky part of this project was narrowing all the men I like in the ENTIRE WORLD (mwahahahaha) into ten. As it turns out I do like more than 10 men, and sorry to the boys who didn’t make the cut (Agent Dale Cooper, David Duchovney, Peter Dinklage, The Rock..) but there will always be next time and you will always have a special place in my heart.
The ones I DID draw are (in order on the site):
Danny Trejo
Eugene Hutz
Henry Rollins
Hunter S
Iggy Pop
Jack Nicholson
Mickey Rourke
A really bad version of Noel Fielding (dont hate me?)
Slash
and best teeth ever Mr. Stevie B (Buscemi)
So that happened.
I also shot a lovely set of stylist turned sexy chain mail model NV (who is gracing the home page right now) and will be photographing the enigmatic Ivi Taro tomorrow afternoon. The fun…well it just never stops. I hope it never does.
Here is another Annie G clown edit (So sad. So sad.) and a picture of WORLD FAMOUS Elli Yang Schroeder and me very happy to be in her company!
The end.

Ladies and Gents:::
I had the rare opportunity to be in front of the camera instead of behind it last week when I posed for the lovely Carla Lopez of Candid Loving Photography. She not only did an incredible job photographing me but does hair, makeup and styling! Here is a peak at what we did together, photo by Carla, retouching by me.

B &G & Etc::::
As this year draws to a close I am tying up the loose ends to an overwhelming amount of projects and obligations and preparing to move into a new workspace which will no doubt lend tons of new energy to RebeccaPeloquin.com, re-pel.tumblr and all the other venues where you can find things I make and love, so please as always stay excited for updates and new work! Also starting at the beginning of January you will be able to find all sorts of new prints, originals, odd things and artsy alike in my brand new re-designed ETSY.
Until then happy holidays, and stay classy my friends!

In the spirit of Illustration Friday’s theme of “Vanity”, a totally self indulgent photo collage of my face, looking way more goth than acceptable. These things happen. Sorry Jebus.

Yesterday was a fine quiet night filled with gypsy music and strong coffee. I saw this as I drove home and drew this when I got there.

After much contemplation, the dispension of $10 American and a very deep breath I put my red nailed hands into the not so trustworthy hands of SOME LADY at a sketchy salon who after 20 painful minutes had proudly sanded off virtually all the skin on my poor fingers while responding to my winces with a cooed, heavily accented “It doesn’t hurt, I am nice to you.” Not finding the words to explain flesh pulls, surface piercings or inner arm tattoos to SOME LADY’s indifferent grin, I did my best to bite my lip and not retort, YES IT HURTS. Out the door with bleeding fingers I made a new oath to avoid acrylic nails, that entire salon and to cross the street if I ever see her again. Masochists if you want the address shoot me an email. On the plus side I can type again, pick things up and go back to making things! Yay!!! Here are some shots of a new piece I am working on, more conjoined twins, long hair and a red nail memorial.

2. Worst international movie name: Chinese film entitled YOGA: The Movie
3. Best worst movie: Zombie Lake (Movie starts with a bus load of cheerleaders with a powerful need to immediately skinnydip)
4. Best spooky getting ready song: Devil Bunnies by My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult
5. Best (3) Tales From The Crypt: “Dead Right” (Demi Moore), Split Personality(Joe Pesci), and Death of Some Salesmen(Tim Curry, Ed Begley Jr)

At the very start of the month I gained a new housemate and a new friend. His name is Jonathan Saunders and he tells incredible stories. I was happy to be part of one. It involved me sitting very still, something I am not terribly excellent at. You can find out more at:
